SOS Grants Available
Strategic Opportunity Stipends (SOS) Deadline: Thursday, September 24th, 2009  

Strategic Opportunity Stipends (SOS) provides grants designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of specific, unique opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or career. These are $100-$600 grants for forthcoming opportunities (not necessarily projects) that are distinct from an artist's ongoing work. The next deadline is September 24th, 2009. This deadline is for opportunities occurring between November 1, 2009 and February 28, 2010.

To apply:
1. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and a full-time resident for the past year of one of the participating New York State counties (see step 3 or page 6 of the application. NOTE: SOS is NOT available to residents of the 5 boroughs of New York City). Applicants cannot be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program at the time of application.

2. Complete the application by
downloading the PDF:
Please note printed paper applications are no longer available, the application will be available as a PDF download only. All copies submitted now must be typed.

3. Once the PDF is typed, filled in and completed, print  it out and submit 7 copies of the application to your regional SOS administrator:

Applications must be in the Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks' office by 5:00pm on Thursday, September 24th, 2009.

About the panel:
The panel will look for a specific, unique opportunity that is likely to advance your career. This should be an opportunity that is new in relation to your career thus far, and you should clearly explain the benefit of participation in the opportunity. Examples of fundable and non-fundable activities are included on page 2 of the application.

This deadline is for opportunities occurring between July 2010 and October 2010.

To apply:

NOTE: SOS is NOT available to residents of the 5 boroughs of New York City). Applicants cannot be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program at the time of application.

  SOS Grant Deadline September 24th
Please Note the Following Changes in SOS Grant Deadlines and Support Requests:
Artists can now request support ranging from $200 to $1,500. Also, deadlines will now be
two times a year instead of three. See details about these changes below.

These are $200 to $1,500 grants for forthcoming opportunities (not necessarily projects) that are distinct from an artist's ongoing work.

SOS Round 1 Deadline:
Round 1-For Opportunities from November 2010-May 2011
Deadline: Friday, September 24th, 2010

The above dates are NOT postmark deadlines. Applications must be received by 5:00pm on the specified dates.

To apply:
